BEARS Two Meter Net

The next weekly net is Sunday, June 28 at 9:00pm.
Net Control Op: AB0RX.

The Two Meter BEARS Net is held every Sunday evening at 9:00 PM local time on the club repeater, WØMA, 147.060 MHz (+), PL 141.3 Hz.

This is a general interest net and is open to all amateur radio operators. You are welcome to join us.

Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a Net Control Station for the Two Meter Net.

Although anyone may participate in the club net, only club members are entitled to Net Control privileges. Participants receive an automated e-mail reminder on the Friday prior to their scheduled turn.

Notes and guidelines for Net Control operation are provided below.

Net Control Operation

Preparation

You will need:

Most importantly, relax. Speak slowly, keep things simple, and avoid unnecessary repetition.

Opening

QST, QST, QST, this is <your call sign> calling all radio amateurs to participate in the regularly scheduled Sunday night 2-meter net of the Boeing Employees' Amateur Radio Society, or BEARS net. This is a general interest net and is open to all radio amateurs.

I will be your net control operator tonight. My call, once again, is <your call sign given alphabetically and phonetically>, and my name is <your name, spelled phonetically>.

Before giving announcements and calling for check-ins, is there any emergency traffic for the net? Please call now.

Pause briefly before continuing. Emergency traffic always takes priority and should be handled immediately.

Check-Ins

Hearing none, we will proceed with check-ins. Anyone wishing to check into the BEARS net, please call now with your call sign and first name.

You may separate short-time stations from regular check-ins if desired. Acknowledge each station as they check in and verify any uncertain information.

Announcements

I will now proceed with the announcements. There will be an opportunity for additional check-ins later in the net. There are <number of announcements> tonight.

Announcements may include:

Run the List

Call on each station in order and allow them to pass their traffic. When complete, call for late check-ins.

Are there any additional stations wishing to check into the BEARS net? Please call now with your call sign and first name.

Run the additional list and repeat as necessary.

Final Call

Provide an opportunity for final comments and questions.

Anyone with additional comments or questions for the BEARS net, please call now and wait to be recognized.

Recognize stations in the order received and make one final call for check-ins, comments, or questions.

Closing

Give the total number of check-ins, thank everyone for participating, and close the net.

I now call the net to a close. The repeater is returned to normal use.
